LUCY STOYLES TO SEEK LIBERAL NOMINATION FOR MOUNT PEARL NORTH
January 09, 2021
Mount Pearl, NL – Lucy Stoyles, a councillor with the City of Mount Pearl for the past 25 years, today announced her intention to seek the Liberal party’s nomination to run in the District of Mount Pearl North in the next provincial general election.
A life-long Liberal, Lucy Stoyles has worked tirelessly for the people of Mount Pearl, not only as a member of council, but as a volunteer and political organizer. “Running for provincial politics has always been on my radar,” said Stoyles. “I have taken this step now because it is a critical time for our province. Never has there been such a need for people in government with experience in navigating fiscal challenges. In my 25 years on council, I have worked through good times and bad, always putting the needs of constituents first while being conscious of the economic and social responsibilities required to govern.”
As a member of Mount Pearl council, Lucy has served as chair or co-chair on every committee and represented the city on countless boards. She has also been President of the Mount Pearl Kinettes, President of Lupus NL, Chair of the Save Our People Action Committee, and held countless other volunteer roles, most prominently in areas of literacy and learning disabilities. In 2018 she was inducted into the Duke of Edinburgh’s Volunteer Hall of Fame in recognition of her years of volunteerism.
“I look forward to the nomination vote, and if chosen to run for the Liberal Party, I intend to follow my values of putting the people of Mount Pearl first. I have always been devoted to helping others and will bring that dedication with me wherever I go.”
