February 26, 2015: Victoria Hits USA TODAY Bestseller List

Newfoundland author Victoria Barbour has landed on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list. Victoria’s Newfoundland-set romance novella, Geek God, is part of the multi-author collection Passionate Kisses 2: Love in Bloom, which debuted on the list in its first week of publication. Victoria is the only Canadian author in the box set.

“This is my second time working with this group of authors,” said Ms. Barbour, who lives in Kelligrews. “Romance authors often work together on a collection in the hopes of reaching new audiences, and there is always a possibility of a set doing well and hitting the big lists. The romance market is huge, and it takes something like this to give extra visibility. This is certainly a major milestone in my career.”

A full-time author, Victoria sees this major accomplishment as a key event in an already active writing career. In under two years she has published six novels. She is an Amazon best-selling author, and mentors local authors who are working towards self-publishing careers.

She is currently working on a historical romance series, which like all of her books, is set in Newfoundland. The decision to self-publish was prompted by her desire to set her novels in her home province “I felt my setting was limiting interest from traditional romance publishers,” she said. “And if there’s one thing I’m passionate about when it comes to my writing, it’s my setting. I hope my novels convince readers to come visit Newfoundland. For me, that would be the best indication of success.”

USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list ranks the 150 top-selling titles each week based on an analysis of sales from U.S. booksellers. Contributors represent a variety of outlets: bookstore chains, independent bookstores, mass merchandisers and online retailers.
